Business Process Scan at WML (Waterleidingmaatschappij Limburg) in Maastricht

Customer WML has formulated the following assignment for the execution of the Business Process Scan, in which a subprocess (XML processing) of the department Aanleg Leidingen was defined as the scope. It concerns the revision processing subprocess, electronic message traffic provided with geographical data, provided by contractors who perform projects and repair work on behalf of WML.

The goal is to deliver the items below from the scan so that the process is more efficient after implementation:

  • Mapping the revision processing subprocess;
  • Looking for process steps that are not going well optimally;
  • Deliver improvement recommendations.
Approach: collaboration and insight with Valid

Together with WML employees from different disciplines (IT, Construction Pipelines, GeoData Management), Valid organized workshops to retrieve the right information. Based on that information, the work process was then visualized via Business Process Modelling (BPM) and red flags were placed on process steps where improvement was possible. The details were validated with the WML employees. Then, based on the red flags, improvement recommendations with a business case were developed. One of the recommendations is being implemented in an ongoing implementation project at WML.
