'Successful change is something you do together' - The Retrospective

How do you tackle the people-focused side of change in a structured and effective way? That question was the focus of our knowledge session 'Successful change is something you do together' on Thursday, March 27. During this interactive knowledge session, together with Prosci, a.s.r. Loyalis and the participants, we delved into the theme of change management, with a sharp focus on both theory and practice. And of course: with room for discussion.

Based on the belief Trust > Tech > Thrive, we facilitate sustainable change with an integrated approach.

Fundamentals of change management: the Prosci method

Prosci took the audience through their global approach to change management. Based on more than 25 years of research and with thousands of trained professionals working in leading international organizations, Prosci offers a proven framework that focuses on both the technical and human sides of change. Think of the Prosci Change Triangle (PCT) and the well-known ADKAR model. The change management experts within Valid are Prosci certified and closely follow the insights from Prosci research.

A great insight from Prosci research: organizations that are strong in change management are as much as seven times more likely to achieve or exceed their project goals than organizations without an effective change management approach.

Learning from practice: case of a.s.r. Loyalis

Participants from a wide variety of organizations attended. What they had in common: change is an ongoing phenomenon and has many challenges. To share experiences, a.s.r. Loyalis kicked off with a presentation on their case study. Their ambition? To grow organization-wide to a value-driven way of working. The conclusion was that this requires clear frameworks, active collaboration, continuous feedback and a lot of attention to awareness and knowledge sharing.

In discussion on stimulating propositions

There was also room for engaging discussions among the participants, including stimulating propositions on topics such as the role fulfillment of the sponsor and change manager, dealing with resistance and the conditions for sustaining change.

Participants shared their opinions and interacted with each other. This not only provided new insights, but also prompted some to rethink their existing beliefs.

Change is more than implementation

The central message? An organization only really changes when the people within it change. So adoption is just as important as implementation. It is about creating awareness, motivating, training, improving and anchoring. Successful change requires time, attention and repetition, even after going live.

With this session, in collaboration with Prosci and a.s.r. Loyalis, we showed that successful change depends not only on a good plan, but especially on people. People who show ownership, strengthen each other and keep learning.
